Eddie Rodick
Well, well, well. What can I say?
I never thought I’d be sitting here writing a bio to be placed on the Dave’s
Planet website. Unbelievable!! How this all came about is truly amazing. It
happened all so fast that I am still wondering if I am truly in the band or if
these guys just gave me a list of songs to learn in order to jerk me around.
Nevertheless, I am showing up this Saturday for the gig, and every other gig
after that. My agent locked me in to a 20 year deal so, Planet Fans, I am here
to stay!!
For those who do not know
me, my name is Eddie Rodick III. Why so formal you ask? Many reasons, which you
will learn as you come to know me. I am very proud to be a third generation
Rodick. Please do not confuse me with Andy Roddick the tennis player. As I have
nothing against tennis or Andy, I cannot get you passes to Wimbledon, I cannot
get a signed autographed photo of Anna Kournikova, and I do not hang out with
the Williams sisters.
Yes, I am Eddie Rodick III. Some of you know me as Eddie, E3, 3, 3
man, Schmedley, E-3-P-O, or just Schmo. (My wife may be able to add
some other “names” to this list to but we’ll save that for another
day). Use what works for you. You may have seen me somewhere around
town. I played with the band Sumrada for about 8 or 9 years (early
‘90’s to 2001). Then I joined Heeere’s Johnny, for the last and
final phase of that wonderful project. Prior to that I had played in
several other bands in the past, but mostly you may recognize me
from Adelphia’s community channel and the Polka station that is
shown, from what I hear, 200 times a week. Yes, I SAID POLKA. I have
been playing Polka my whole life in my Dad’s band. He is a very
accomplished musician who has played his whole life as well and
still does. I joined him when I was 13 and I remember while in High
School (Eastlake North by the way, you suck you rebel Vogrin j/k) I
would get teased by my friends because I played in a polka band.
Then I would reach into my pocket and pull out $150.00 cash from the
gig I played on Saturday and then walk to my brand new car I had
just bought and say, “Anyone interested in learning how to play
polkas”? Now please note we are not the oom-pa-pa band that wears
the funny clothes. We kick ass, drink a lot of booze, and act like
complete Aholes, which is why I knew I’d be a perfect fit for
this band - HA.
I started playing drums when I was 2
years old. Yes, I said 2! Never went for lessons. Then I took about
2 ½ years of classical piano when I was 13. From there I taught
myself guitar, bass, banjo, and I can even play the scale on a
trumpet and blow a really nasty Christmas tune on the sax. Drums are
actually my first instrument but I consider bass my second.
Who is my biggest supporter you ask?
Who is my best friend? Who is the love of my life? That would be my
wife Traci. Make sure you spell it ending in an i or she gets very
mad. Traci and I have been married for a little over 9 years and we
have been through it all. I could not get through my life without
her in it as she is my rock (I know this sounds corny but it’s
true). Along with her and my beautiful step-daughter Stephanie I am
the luckiest guy in the world. We also have 4 other kids at home:
Jake, Tank, Greyson, & Cody. Two Chocolate Labs, an Australian
Cattle Dog, and a tabby cat (all in that order). Yes, we LOVE
animals. My wife’s dream is to one day own a dog rescue business.
She also wants an apple farm too. I said I would get her a dog
rescue on an apple tree farm site in the near future. (Boy I hope
these band gigs pay good).
I just received my
Associates of Applied Business Degree last year at Lakeland and am
currently enrolled at Lake Erie College pursuing my Bachelor’s in
Business Management. I am a manager of a customer operations
department at a well established corporation located in Mentor,
where I have been employed for the past 9 years.
I got a lot more to say but
I feel let’s leave that for when we see or meet each other at one of
the gigs. I love to drink beer and bullshit. Sometimes I like to
just drink beer and shit!
Bottom
line: I have known these guys and respected them for the last ten
years. They have such a well established band and I am so honored to
now be apart of it. I just hope to add my little flare to something
that is already kickin’ and bring many more years of enjoyment to
current Planet Fans as well as future ones.
See
ya at the shows!! E3
